I have never heard of caulk+"water mix"...I think you're talking about the old trick of mixing Elmer's Glue-All and Durham's Wood Putty or plain old sawdust, which does work like a charm in small applications like this, usually on paint-grade trim projects or very minor wood filler applications in unfinished solid hardwood flooring before finishing in place.1/3 in. plywood over everything?
