City regulations?

Your mortgage banker is a moron and don't know how to read regulations/guidelines.

The State of Illinois recently passed a statute into law that allows regulators to examine and publicly report on delinquency rates, as well as take action against lenders whose rates are too high.

@Jerry Johnson -- I would follow these steps:Local laws: Some counties have rent control regulations, so confirm if you can raise the rent or whether you have limitsLease agreements: See if you can get a copy of any lease agreement / terms with the tenants.

@Christopher MonsourI'm a CPA more involved on commercial real estate and practiced tax for a few years.

No American banks have branches here in NZ< though that may change with new regulations regarding trading which appear to be coming in, in the next few months.

Is it more feasible for an investor to look elsewhere until a correction occurs and on a very practical level does walking away now make sense.
