My wife and I are thinking about splitting a house, living in half and renting the other half as a STR.We are currently living in South Florida and not super familiar with the different areas and neighborhoods in the Orlando area (specifically around Universal or Disney).I’m trying to learn more about the different zoning laws and make sure what we want to do is legally possible.Any and all advice or tips is greatly appreciated.Also, would love to hear from real estate agents who have experience with these types of investments.Thank you in advance,Sagi

So even in the case of houses near the university, it would illegal to have more than 3 unrelated adults.

Cleveland is a hot area between the universities, medIcal schools, and hospitals, not to mention the steadily increasing social and entertainment scene.

He's a coach at the university and can put 5 scholarship athletes in the rental for $2700/student/semester x5 = $27000now we cash flow arounnd $800/ monthProblem is he doesn't have cash for %50 of the down payment. 

The other duplex is near the University of Minnesota.  

He recently had applied for a single occupancy apartment in the Puget Sound area by the University District.

I graduated from university in December 2018 and know that this is the time to get my financial situation in order to make sure I can take advantage of both compounding interest and the opportunity to be a little riskier. 

Just look at the wealthy people paying big money to get their kids into elite universities. 

I did a quick check on the top universities in the US and 2 of the top 5 are in California.

I'm looking to buy single family homes in my area (Shelby twp, Utica, Sterling Heights, Auburn Hills, Rochester if possible) with the long term goal of buying rental properties in Florida.
