I listened to the episode three times over that afternoon, and constantly was pausing to google words like refinancing, comps, and line of credit. 

What I have done up to this point is just really connect with investors local to the area and spend a lot of time on google maps, Trulia, Zillow, etc.  

Aside from the great statistical sites @Alex Olson mentioned, I would also hop on google maps street view and virtually drive the neighborhood.
