In addition to what the OP wrote, mentions don't properly function when typing inside the edit box you get after that error message appears; only colleagues show up in the list of users, not all other thread participants. 

Where this become more appropriate is if the subject were to have an additional functional area that may be rather unique not found in the market.

Make your best guess based on a visual inspection. 

They function fine.

HUD does a visual inspection via the asset manager, et al before it's listed in the homestore.
