Someone just posted a FB post about this same thing- He literally wants to lock the thermostats or install a digital one so he can keep from from setting it below 68 becuase "There is no valid reason for any one to set it below that temp ever"This is the kind of thing that makes people assume landlords only care about money and not humans.

I shortened a window by, after framing for the right height, simply having the installer make a flashing fascia from the bottom of the actual window down to the sill.

The labor alone to manufacture your own flooring, who knows, I guess it depends on how good you are and if you have all the equipment and time.I just installed a oak solid wood prefinished floor for $2.25 a sq foot.I feel time is better spent looking for a closeout, or looking on craigs list until you find what you want.
