Because, this is just yet another abuse of power, abuse of position, an institution saying f-it because oh-well they will just use political power to get a bail-out.

You can't mention the type of person you're renting to ("students", "families", etc.) or deny any source of income (like DSS or Section 8).

My loan was denied due to "excessive obligations" and "lack of income for obligations". 

If the property has never been rented/leased while you have owned it, most claims will be denied if you have a standard landlord policy.Once the property is occupied, then you can get a standard Rental Dwelling/Landlord policy. 

I don’t do follow up with denied tenants.

I was denied for an unsecured card (my personal credit is great but I think they didn’t like that I recently got a HELOC) but have the option of doing a secured card.

They mainly focus on cases where there actually IS abuse, often on the part of a crappy Pgh landlord, usually one with multiple strikes against him, i.e., a history of pulling shady shenanigans. 

I live on the first floor and figured I would get denied, but didn't want to apply for it and state the basement unit was my primary.
