For us, it was the right choice.The biggest negative is that you have a substantial amount of your money tied up in a single project.

Is there a mentor out there willing to partner with a newbie and lend your expertise to make this become more than something just in my head and heart?

I know there is a lot to learn, however, I am ready to dive right in head first.I am looking to make some networking connections as well as to learn as much as I can from Bigger Pockets!

I guess it depends on if you want warranties or not and want a full blown contractor to run everything for you, however I've found people by going out to new construction sites in developments and talking to the head flatwork guy on a job, or find a crew on a commercial job site etc.

If you own those properties free and clear  or with substantial equity (as in you only owe 40% of the value) then you might be able to work a deal.

For a couple of weeks now, I have had this idea stewing in my head.

Just off the top of my head for starters.

Perhaps a non-threatening letter from an attorney, inviting him to substantiate his claims would make him more mindful in the future.
