I know in Texas you're allowed to give small gifts under $50 value (gift card or something).

I know they can gift her $16k each ($32k) total tax free.

They email the rewards to you and then you spend them like a gift card.

Cameron,I do agree with you, that was a pretty awesome gift to give someone out here on Bigger Pockets.

Posting is a gift to others.

A few examples, new water heater, $600 gift card to Sears to buy new dishwasher, countless visits by plumbers to unclog drains, new springs on garage doors, multiple visits by HVAC companies to fix broken AC's in the middle of summer (when it's like 110 degrees), etc.

It helped that we asked for cash instead of gifts; the gift cash ALMOST covered the bar tab.Four years later (2014), with my wife's career getting traction, we bought a second house in a much nicer part of town.

Unfortunately the first thought it was a gift from God and over the next few days felt as if she didn't need to put any money into the deal to save herself from foreclosure.  

I also know many gifted and talented craftsman who know very little about business infrastructure and compliance - they often fail at running a successful business.I believe that both sides of the coin should exist.
