When a rate is locked, you have "x" amount of days to finish the loan or extend the lock. 

I am in the process of doing my due diligence and purchasing my first house hack, so I signed a 12 month lease (extending my stay until Mar 2022).

The other way to do it is going the traditional 1031 route but giving yourself two 15 day escrow extension options to extend escrow on your down leg in case you need more time to find a property.

And, as investors, we all know that come the end of December, the moratorium was extended through March.  

We extended the sale to March 29th.

They need to be extended, about a 1,000 lineal feet, to open up the single family lots. 

They would like to extend for 5 more years.

I am unaware if the sprinkler system extends to other locations around the casita.

Why when you buy a used car they pretty much give you a timeshare presentation on extended warranties...that is where they make all their money (and on your trade-in)!
