Also, I recall having a DSS tenant in one of my properties in up state NY.They where refugees from Ghana I believe, these folks where obsessed with house and looked after it to extreme lengths.Maybe a similar strategy could be implemented of renting to refugees who would actually appreciate a roof over their head and opportunity for a better life.Just my opinion.Thanks

The owner died, and was just a old landlord who kept everything in his head, no paperwork, nothing...I plan on managing both properties when I return to the Unites States at the end of the year, and have family who can do it for me until then, so I will be paying myself management fees.

We've got some great bargains here for low priced housing that work well for rentals; however, if you start looking at the $150,000+ range, you're probably better off heading to Altoona, Ankeny, or any of the metro suburbs.

. :)  I definitely agree that starting out is hard. there are a lot of obstacles that seem to be in the way, and while most of them are in our heads and can be somewhat mitigated with education, others obstacles demand faith from others, which is harder to overcome without experience.
