I still don't like the scenario but it's hard for me to say it's "fishy" if you approached them.There are probably other ways the introductions could have been made, I really don't like any scenario when you pay up front for something, but learning more about "how the conversation got started" might be helpful.  

I literally just wrote my introduction post, but I have a question and want to jump right in.

Depending on how much you already know about real estate https://www.biggerpockets.com/courses/a-beginners-introduction-to-real-estate-investing was a huge help for me.

I am familiar with broad negligence and responsibility - I'd  just like to find a statutory paragraph somewhere that really defines what happens in this situation, which does not seem to fit under "negligence" on our part. 

So just popping in to say hello though I have another post about my particular predicament I'm in and didn't want to clutter up the introduction with info not relevant to the thread.

I'm making my official introduction here as a signpost for when I _really_ started down the path of REI.I'm a senior software engineer for a consulting company headquartered out of Minneapolis, with an Omaha office of about 30 developers.
