What does work is the farm-to-table vertical integration business plan, where the consumer buys organically grown produce directly from the grower at nearly the same price, for better food, that they'd pay in the grocery store.

All the background stuff, all the calls, credit checks evictions, criminal records, and so on are time consuming. 

Unfortunately, many see it as "gov'mint" restriction rather than a reasonable consumer protection.
