@Timothy CasallasHey Timothy - I read your profile and it appears that you will be stationed in Japan soon.If you invest in real estate. you may want to look into investing in states with no income tax(such as florida) this will be one less tax return that you will need to file.Also - if you have an account in excess of $10,000 during the year in Japan - You should report it to the IRS.

I was looking at some properties last week and happened to see one right next to a fire station.  

I will probably only be in Corpus for another 3 or 4 months and my next station for a year maybe, after that, things should slow down a but but I want to start acquiring rentals now.

I am also stationed in Bahrain and would be interested in the community's advice on this matter.

The property is located just 0.3 miles from the Metro-North "Mt Vernon West" Station with access to Grand Central in Manhattan in approximately 30 minutes.Not sure if it's a faux pas to post this ^^ I'm more interested in learning than someone who's better capitalized 'stealing' this particular deal.
