it is fairly easy to review the individual or business ahead of time, but the picture is not complete until the deal comes into play. 

Some of the estimates I've gotten are between 30-40k for the renovation so this could be pushing it.

Everything across the board is skyrocketing, if the contractor you received the contract from is a good contractor with alot of referrals and has a good solid crew I would push a whole lot of issues it could take you months in the long run trying to find another one, and yet when you do who knows what they're bid may be

They'll clamor for money, and they may even catch up or get ahead.
