When dealing with humans, one should always try to be upfront, honest and deal in good faith.

To be honest, I have not bought any kitchen cabinets or flooring from any big box stores for like ten years.over the counter cabinets are lowest quality ever, I would not even touch it, and I dont think any body who does multiple houses would do it either. 

Human emotion is the quality of life that you have.

If you don't have a referral then make sure you speak to a human about their work. 

You can get a signed agreement and if they fail to perfom you at least can feel like you are a decent human  being and gave them a shot. 

This may sound dumb but i am trying to gain as much info about REI as humanly possible to let the different avenues call to me.

I think scaling is more of a human resources thing.
