And if you are looking into this just for the sake of saving the planet, 1. remember the solar industry is heavily subsidized, creating distortions in other areas, and 2. most of the solar brands manufacturing are not green at all, leaving behind a bunch of toxic byproducts + if you factor in the materials and energy consumed in the production of panels, they will never recover that during their useful lifetime.

@Catherine Frederick, actual Angelino here...I think this is a problematic plan.Remember, whatever equity you create in two years, you'll need a cash-out refinance to access that equity, and cash-out refinance rates are higher than purchase rates.

Because cash out refis are not the same as typical refis, they already have a higher rate attached to them and if the lender knows it’s an investment property then good luck getting it to the cash flow.There is only so much that individuals can afford to pay for rent.
