Typically Single Member LLC activity is reported directly on your individual return for Federal income tax purposes (assuming you haven't made an election to treat the LLC as a C Corporation).

I know the absolute basics of the available structures and from my, admittedly, very basic understanding I would probably be best suited to investing through a LLC or perhaps a S or C Corporation.

I hate to sound doom & gloom but if someone is in charge of corporate office planning for 10 years he or she would not be doing his/her job correctly if they don't see where the risk lies in having most of your employees in a big city setting.

The great @J Scott (of BiggerPockets authorship and podcast fame) posted the following on his Facebook page yesterday (italics, all credit to him): I was young, but I remember back in mid-eighties before the 1987 market crash when the stock market was on fire -- but the economy was heading in the other direction, corporate valuations were through the roof and interest rates were rising.A couple years later, everyone was saying, "I'm not sure how it wasn't obvious to everyone that the market was broken and it all had to come crumbling down?"

I’m wanting to make sure I’m insulated from any risk (tenants hurting themselves, personal liability etc) by moving the properties to a corporation.
