Tenants are responsible for maintenance calls that are unnecessary, or when caused by their own abuse or neglect.$500 for a false alarm is crazy and I certainly wouldn't pay it, particularly when all the safety devices are installed and functional.

Unfortunately this policy has been abused in the past where insane interest (up to 25% is allowed), as well as unreasonable attorney and collection fees have been tacked on, making it almost impossible for the owner to overcome.
