At a minimum, this should go to the CA DRE, if this is not isolated misconduct they will identify it.As for the deal - if it pencils, close it, see if someone else from the brokerage can step in and bring the transaction to a close.

Similar to how if somebody files a lawsuit against me, there should be no reason why the suitor should be able to go after your assets (since we are two basically complete strangers with no business entanglements).You generally want to purchase your short and long term properties/investments separately to isolate the liabilities.

For example, if there is a major leak you can call their emergency line to get their guy to go out in the freezing cold to isolate the leak...Yes, its a balance where the Association should have taken a big chunk of your risks (e.g. exterior maintenance, roof, etc.).

We use to invest in residential and then multi-family but made the switch about 15 years ago and never looked back.Granted some folks would say that you ought to hedge your bets through several Asset Classes and there is certainly some validity to that, but I (and many others) are quite bullish on Self Storage, and it is what I solely focus on.Self Storage is historically Recession-Resistant, so it does well in both good times & downturns.
