Depends on how large your job is, if any materials are left onsite, and if the area is suspect.

I suspect he is over his head regarding any sort of building or renovation work and would be better served paying someone that can do it right.If he wants to learn that is fine but if not he needs professional help.

The system I suspect may have never been wired correctly to begin with and that is unfortunately a common problem.

I think the only time they would investigate is if they suspect foul play or a crime.
