And we ended up having to re-lease our apartment, and now my wife doesn't want to move in at all so we are going to rent the house out while we live in an apartment she wants to live in instead.Anyways, I'm now considered a real estate professional according to IRS rules, and its looks like we are going to be accidental landlords.

Best thing you can do is exactly what you're doing: reach out to others and ask for recommendations.That being said, with all the post-Harvey work going on, you're going to be hard-pressed to find quality, responsive, and affordable contractors if you don't already know one.

In the past she called for kitchen sink leaks, broken sprinklers, door bell stopped working (because she accidentally unplugged the electrical wire), new filter for furnace, gardener did not show up on schedule or did not do a good job.
