Perhaps you could offer some labor in return for the privilege of watching the process (demo, painting, landscaping, etc.).

So im currently learning about becoming a real estate investor and I was watching this show called "The deed", where this women bought a land and started building her development of houses.

Watch fees too; with RS and RM you are investing through an LLC entity tthey create to manage the investment and they get compensated for that of course let alone the sponsor (on equity deals) has to make $ in various ways too. 

yeah  I would work on equity partners before you get the cart before the horse... it simply takes cash to operate in the real estate game. 

I'm coming to the area to watch a hockey game and experience the night life (Ann Arbor), but I'll be in the area from Friday to Tuesday, and I am interested to speak with active investors in the area about ways I can possibly support and enhance their efforts.  

Couple of ideas:Money Makes Money Theme: Let them buy a share (or few) of stock/index fund in a UTMA account..The goal there is to, ideally, watch it grow over time.
