Yes, management is more intensive, and 50 units is nearing the size of facility that having a small on-site manager could be a benefit for oversight, management and leasing.

I'd suggest looking for local FB groups (search Ann Arbor real estate and/or related keyworkds) or even Meetup.com is a great networking site for related topics. 

Does anyone has a seasoned property manager they would recommend as I enter and hopefully grow on that area?   

Can we just agree that a PM is not a fix all and can in many cases make things worse with a high monthly fee?

Maybe we need a BP board of Unethical behavior where we can post the names of people whom we don't recommend others do business with, based on unethical actions.
