I talked to a business attorney and she said she wasn't sure how taxation works here and wants me to do thorough research.

Depends on how extensive the remodel work is, a cosmetic flip paint, trim, cabinets, vanities don't trigger permits here in WA state. 

We bought our Rockies place cash and had to understand the insurance aspect of it-- we couldn't find a provider that wouldn't charge such a huge amount that I would be kind of embarrassed to say here.
