As I've cautioned elsewhere, the model is overplayed in some markets right now, perhaps especially where there are many underperforming STR's, so be careful if you're thinking of launching one.The MTR model needs to generate sufficient return in excess of the LTR model in order to justify its increased cost, management and risk.

When you add the real loss in value to the requirement for substantial cap ex to maintain the old typically under-improved and weather-beaten housing stock, nothing short of an economic miracle is going to generate sufficient "cash flow" over 5 to 10 years to offset these real losses/expenditures.
