I’m usually paid up and “made whole”the first year , If I explain it to the tenant buyer when I deed it over I’d be sure they understood and signed a legal document that they understood the title is clouded ..heck they don’t really care either lol that is outside their context ,they plan to live and die in the building and it allows them to get out of the renters cycle and be an owner .

Then you can hold for decades with a long term loan if it is not the right time in the cycle or sell to a hold investor and keep growing and recycling capital into more projects.I have been licensed since 2004 so saw the last downturn.
