Im currently working on getting my CA class A engineering liscense, Ive worked in Residential, Commerical, and heavy civil construction and done my fair share of remodels, including the home I live in now (travertine, granite, recessed lighting, new windows, doors etc) which I am lucky enough to live in rent free in exchange for the work I complete on the house.

Many people who are beginning to retire have been burned by the recession.

I hope some for of "correction" happens where a mini recession happens within the state occurs, but I doubt that will ever happen.

What do I need to consider given that there is likely a recession coming in the next 24 months?

I was fairly undisciplined with my personal spending after growing up in an incredibly poor household with a single mother (working in real estate during the global recession) trying to raise my two younger siblings and me.

There is a lot of "retirement money" down here, and given that many of these people lost a good chunk of their retirement in the recession, they are always looking to put money in real estate... at least with MY experience. 

Next recession will be a currency crisis.
