My father-in-law is an attorney who still has to work long hours and often nights and weekends for a very low salary, hoping to win “that big case” that will pay out a sizeable sum.

The market is tight with very low inventory so it's hard to actually win the sub $300k properties but all it takes is money.

you have it right 1.. public auctioneer who is selling properties for a bank or individuals and normal escrow process happens after winning bid..you will have time to inspect to do due diligence etc.. 

Has anybody else in a similar situation found a win-win solution?

If she works through her network, she has an increased probability of finding win/win situations that she can capitalize on and find buyers for to complete her wholesale transaction.
