My own method was to have the contractor (his idea, too) put down a thin wood underlayment (adhesive or minimal nailing) then we went with linoleum on that (it was in kitchen/bath).

They seem to be holding up going on month 3 ;) but i've heard good things from asking around.For floors/bathrooms, there is a company in your neck of the woods called Miracle Method that does epoxy refinishing of tile floors, counters, tubs etc...

If sufficient enough in quantity, urine will pass through carpet and pad and the wood floor/subfloor below will absorb it... replacement is the only option I've used successfully.You might want to check all the drains (sinks, tubs, laundry, toilets, etc.).
