I found a contractor to replace the gates for a fraction of the price ($1700 for 3 wood back patio fences/ gates, including all materials), and there was contention about the way he wrote the estimate (which was identical to the $6k gutter estimate, except it was written, not typed), and they asked for an arbitrary re-write.
