Do not expect riches from the start, especially if this is a turnkey, more often then not it will be retail price and other parties interested in it.

Like Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich dad" buying up parts of Waikiki beach before it became a major tourist attraction.

Here are a few I recommend: "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Roberto Kiyosaki; "Set for Life" by Scott Trench; "The Unofficial Guide to Real Estate Investing" by Spencer; "The BiggerPockets Ultimate Beginners Guide" found here on BP; "The Book on Rental Property Investing" by Brandon Tuner.

(But I've been listening to BP podcasts the last 2 months and read all the Rich Dad, Poor Dad books).  

Many of the STR investors jumped in because they saw some YouTube videos about how to get rich quick with STR, they had COVID money to burn, so they jumped in.

Over the last 6-7 months, I’ve been doing my best to “get smart” on real estate investing, starting off with Rich Dad principles, which led to Rich Dad Advisor (McElroy, Sutton, etc.) audiobooks, which led to BP podcasts and doing YT research on tax benefits…I’m feel ready to take action and start putting everything into practice but still not certain which method is best for my first investment property.
