You can download the robinhood app which doesn't charge per transaction and since you are just trying to invest your money instead of keeping it in your savings you can just invest in some safe slow growing stocks.

If you can't deal directly with people, make sure your agent can.Long ago you could lay-off L/T problems to a Property Manager, no longer, dispute or legal actions go right to the Owner and a 12 year old kid can track down the actual owner!
