I might be able to replace the lateral up to the tee, but it would only fix half the problems and it is still under the neighbor's lot.

You should absolutely discuss what should happen if you get into a fight and end up not speaking to each other - stranger things have happened no matter how long you have known them.It sounds like this would be a short-term living arrangement, and you would each own the half you started out with.

A side not I should say that the unit is located about 4 miles north of town out in the country so about the only companies that do any kind of installation are the ones with satellite dishes.
