@Bill He has no mortgage, so I believe it is safe to assume he could afford that measly HELOC payment if he lost absolutely everything (quite unlikely outcome).Also, if you way that at a savings rate of $1,000/month (enough to cover the HELOC 3-4 times) it would take him five years to build $60,000 in order to start investing.
