YUP i was raised in cupertino lived for years in Palo Alto and the Napa Valley so from one end of the Bay Area to another.. your graph is very accurate as I was selling real estate or lending in the Bay Area in those years.

(My wife is our agent)  My wife, son, and myself all work full time to flip 10-12 homes a year. 

Example: my son and his friends booked out one of my houses- (I offered it as a graduation gift to them for their senior trip).

Once a tenant moved out on a dark and rainy night, the tenant's son broke back in wrecked the place, got drunk, fired off big fireworks in the duplex and broke holes in doors and walls.

My son did this for his first home purchase in May of ‘23.  

Not sure its worth 1.2 today but its up there.. the one that went bonkers for me though was my next home in Palo Alto I paid 185k for in 85. that sold for 3.2 million 18 months ago.. :(  I could have kept it as the home I bought in Napa Valley was a repo I got for 5k down in 91 deep recession N CA was in.. but who could afford a 300.00 a month negative cash flow ..

I like to think about my old neighborhood in Palo Alto  2 to 3 million dollar 1500 sq ft 60 year old ranchers with a 10 year old Honda Accord in the driveway you prioritize.    

One of my good/bad personality traits is that I'm a very persistent son-of-a-gun that doesn't like giving up on something I know is a good thing.
