My instinct is to insist on a full year renewal, even if it means losing them as tenants, because even if they give a month's notice, if they left, say, in November, it might not be the most convenient time of year to get a new tenant easily, but I wondered about the experiences of people on the forum with this issue.

However, now that I'm moving to self-management, I need an option for them to pay at a physical location (like a gas station or convenience store) that will allow me to get their rent without going to collect it myself.I don't plan to take on new tenants who can't pay online, but I also don't feel the need to kick these tenants out tomorrow.

You'll likely get stuck with no deposit, a lot of damage, tenants that stop paying rent conveniently around the time you take ownership and then drag out the eviction process because you have little or no proof of deposits, leases, etc.
