Paint may very well cover the interior paneling, if it is dark wood. 

They are blue, in conformity with the theme the previous owner stuck with, while I would like for them to be either dark brown (LazyBoy Couch Texture) or dark green. 

In the summer, hmmmm, maybe.....but winter, when it gets dark out at 5pm....yikes.

@Arthur Banks , in lower-end rentals, I usually just refinish the wood, or paint like @Ryan R did - although that takes a lot of time too, to make it look good.I'm going with espresso color on my new ones because people seem to like that dark color, and it's much easier to touch up than real wood grain, IMHO, and doesn't look dirty when kids touch it with dirty hands..

From what I can tell, it seems for flooring, the options that have both light and dark wood grains seem to match best.
