FHA will let you buy another property and rent out the current one you're living in - if - you have to move far enough away that the commute to the job from your current house is too far to be reasonable.Example: My daughter bought a home in Salinas, CA, near Monterey where she was working, with an FHA owner-occupied mortgage.

But, you should qualify for one or more of these types of programs, from what I understand.My daughter bought her first home during the crash, after around 3 years she got a job in a different area of CA, which would have been a commute of around 2 hours or so.
