It may also mess with appliances- we had a newer gas water heater that stopped running due to the fumes. 

The same things go wrong with houses as with a four plex; furnace, AC, appliances, plumbing.

We ended up saving money by being able to do a lot of it ourselves and found some pretty good deals on new appliances and DIY’ing some items in the house.

If your appliance is under warranty they might cover it, if not $700 is not bad compared to a burned down house. just make sure you have your electrical box inspected and for any possible burnt wiring.
