In speaking with the representatives from Airbnb that were in town several times working on this legislation, they say that the regulations passed in Columbus are now being used by Airbnb as "model regulations" for all cities to use to get the best mix of protections, taxes, permitting, and rules for short term rentals to thrive as a lodging option for visitors. 

Another alternative is Malaysia but you can only buy luxury apartments but is difficult to compete vs locals because they can leverage way higher than you.

I have read the rules about STR in Denver and you can only do it if the owner lives at the property as a primary residence unless you get the lodging facility license.

This property definitely needs love, but the #s are great, I didn't budge on hitting those goals, which is why I did open my search far & wide, if I had the luxury of time I probably would have kept my search in a tighter market region.
