If we are going to continue down this path, would we be wiser to get a long term loan so that we profit each month from the rent or get a short term loan with no profit immediately but the house will be paid off quicker.

Yes they may get orders to transfer but that is life (anyone non military could lose their job or get transferred which has the same end result for you) and they are protecting our country with little pay.

So you have positive cash flow as well as fresh new capital.Given, how investors are on a mad scramble to get cash flowing rental properties all across the country, I'd just keep it as a rental and do a cash out refi.-- mike

We all need to remember that what area of the country we live in does determine some of the facts in property acquisition...here in Denver acquiring 24 properties in one day would cost a bundle!
