To me, if someone doesn't want to deal with the actual management of their property, they should invest in something other than RE.There are just so many stories (mine and my daughter's included) of how a PMC destroyed any profits, and ended up actually costing money out of pocket.Be smart.

You had better hope the renters do not destroy the home in the next three years or you will have a lot of expenses getting it ready to sell.Also the rent on your mothers home at $1700 is too low for a $270,000 home.

All I need to do to be reminded never to allow cats is think back : Cats have made me hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years from destroying houses that they had to sell at severe discounts that we've bought  and turned into rentals.

In order for them to have gotten a student visa, they would have had to have a sponsor - i.e. the parents guaranteeing their expenses.They're choosing California, which is an expensive state, so I would think the parents would have some money.There's a risk to their visa, if they were caught in some kind of felony, so I think the likelyhood of them destroying your property is smaller than with an American, in my opinion.I also believe that Asian countries see honor and shame as much more important than the way American see it today.
