Based on things I've read and listened to, Land seems to be a gold mine for deals. 

It also occurred in the 1987 stock market crash, junk bond crisis, S&L crisis, 1980 gold fever, and dozens of financial calamities.A complete lack of liquidity.The buyers disappear after major run-ups in any market because they are afraid.
