It seems to me that in Germany, being wealthy is a disgrace (seeing that from a tax and legal perspective).Now I don‘t want to post here about how „difficult“ it is living in Germany, but instead I am looking for people that think the same way.

While mortgage+ taxes may be similar to rent, you are not paying down the principal early on in the mortgage and closing costs on either end are likely to add up.

Using your numbers, if you did one a year let's just say, instead of net income of 85k after turning it over to a PM, you'd have net income of about 160k but only paying tax on 85k of it.
