It's still like that in several pockets but the Gentrification of Bed-Stuy has improved it considerably.It's obvious that when a neighborhood improves which also improves the amenities in that neighborhood such as higher quality foods at a higher price, restaurants and cafes, etc., the overall economics improves.The cheaper stores like Family Dollar, cheaper supermarkets and Corner Delis begin to disappear.

Stock the kitchen with all the necessities... enough cookware, crock pot, food processor, blender, all needed utensils, etc etc... anything you think you may need, provide it and it will go a long way with guests, especially in reviews.

They have to afford their prior lifestyle and the prices necessary to pay everyone $15 for unskilled labor. 15 an hour is minimum wage on the west coast even fast food pays that or higher.

After screening the tenant. yes they made enough for the rent to only be 40% of the after tax income (not just 3x gross income) their debt payments ate away at the other 60% of income which would mean that when you add utilities, food, misc spending they would be in over their head.
