Regardless, we still need to follow the laws for the jurisdiction, so family members should do what they need to do to establish a legal representative for the deceased and that person should be contacting the landlord.

An 1800 sq ft home puts it outside the "nicer" more "established" neighborhoods.

If you also have the ability to establish residency in Florida, that too is something you should try to get. 

If I were you I would just do it, and leave her in place for a year so you can get rent established in the other side.
