The assumption going in is that we are dealing with a separate entity, not that someone’s just using an entity to avoid personal liability.

And James, yes, I'm trying to pool my money with my friends as I don't have the minimum myself to invest in the deal. 

As long as they have a good track record, it can be a great deal.
