There are some decent spots that do well and are more affordable than Raleigh.Also I bought during the winter during slow season, great neighborhood but horrible photos, clutter everywhere, original condition.

Since scammers tend to be lazy, they're more likely to use unmarked photos from someone else's property instead.

As a short-term rental owner in this area for 15 years there's a couple of additional points I think anyone reading this would want to know.Location - I have found that if your property has great photos and a very well-written description of its proximity to the beach, potential renters have more trust and book with you over a listing that just says "beach view". 

Are their listings detailed with good-quality photos?

You can get great photos with furniture in place and use that to show what a great home it is. 

Puffing, whining, crying, defending, threatening, making personal attacks, all from a place of no knowledge at all and as usual, hiding behind no photo and no information to do it.

Summer,When I have photos made for my listing I have the photographer make a walk through video as well.

Try that before you think about having to paint.take photos of everything before and after.
