I currently use those cheap one dollar 8 x 12 For Rent Signs that you can get at your local hardware store and tape them by all the busy roads near my property and has worked OK.

I have (unfortunately) been down the guru path; bought the books, went to the seminars, even paid for a mentorship that amounted to nothing but a hole in my wallet.

While the cabinets could be saved, refinished, and add new hardware along with new granite countertops and the new cut in and plumbing for dishwasher, by the time I do all of that, it would only cost me about a grand or two more for brand new, and new in the kitchen always brings the value at exit so it is typical in my case and in my area to gut and start fresh.

Stay away from the “guru” sales-pitch events - they rarely increase your investment knowledge, they merely empty your wallet!

-Leave the credit card, wallet, check book, etc. at home-Don't expect to see anybody remotely close to Than's status-Let me know if they've beefed up the powerpoint :P

But if one exists, the hardware must work and the door must function properly.

The reason I'm asking this is what if that person runs down to a local hardware store or Wal-Mart and has a duplicate  made.Then God forbid someone moves into the home later as a tenant, then the criminal comes back and robs them either while there home, or while the tenant is at work.  

Whats the most durable, eco friendly, and wallet friendly solution? 

You are probably starting to think about getting part time jobs, instead of flipping burgers or stocking shelves at the grocery store see if you can get a job at HomeDepot/Lowes/Ace Hardware/Other local Hardware or supply store.

Educated playing will make you money, but you WILL sometimes lose, and you have to have a wallet big enough to survive those times.
